It’s week 4 of the Pootler’s June Design Team Challenge. This week I’m sharing card I made using the Balloon Builders Stamp Set and one of my favourite colours, Bermuda Bay.
The sentiment I chose from the Balloon Builders stamp set is ‘You’ve got the World on a String’. It’s an ideal sentiment for anyone who has made a recent achievement in their lives.
I began by creating a background which I wanted to look a bit like the view of the earth from space. Using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set I stamped a few ‘splatters’ on to the inside of a cellophane bag. To do this I cut the cellophane bag on three sides, opened it up and stamped the splatters using a variety of ink colours. The colours I chose to create an impression of ‘the world from above’ was Bermuda Bay, Tip Top Taupe, Marina Mist, Smoky Slate and Mint Macaron. I then very lightly misted the stamped images using the Stampin Misters, closed the bag and swooshed the colour around with my fingers.
I popped a piece of Whisper White card stock in between the sheets of cellophane. This transferred the colour to the card creating the unique background I needed. The next stage was to stamp directly on top of the prepared background, again using Gorgeous Grunge and my chosen colours. I did this until I was happy that I had created something that resembled the earth’s surface. I finished the background by sponging the edges in Bermuda Bay and adding some splatters in Versamark which were heat embossed using Gold Stampin Emboss Powder.
I stamped out one of the balloons from the Balloon Builders Stamp Set onto Bermuda Bay card stock in Versamark and heat embossed it using Clear embossing powder. I punched it out using the Balloon Bouquet punch and tied it with some Whisper White Bakers Twine.
A strip of Vellum was wrapped around the card front and was attached with Snail at the back so no adhesive could be seen. The sentiment was heat embossed in gold and cut out using the Tags and Labels Framelits. I stamped a couple of splatters in Bermuda Bay and attached it to the Vellum using Dimensionals.
My card was then attached to a mat of Whisper White card stock and then to a Bermuda Bay card base.
I hope you enjoyed this project. Next week will be the final week of the June Design Team Challenge so I hope you’ll pop back to see my final project in this series.
Bye for now.
